How Are You Feeling - There's an app For That

I love my family and my friends from my schools and vari0ous jobs, because they are nearly always wonderfully positive and genuine in their use of social media. Quite frankly, I decided to take the Social Media plunge just over a year ago, because of wonderful people like those whom have been in my life. But yesterday I spent a bit too much time there…or…I just happened to view something that just set me off. I think it was about how so many people in our world have to put a “label” on people instead of just knowing and judging their character. I so desperately wanted to blast out that race, religion, age, origin, political view points, and appearance are “labels” that should not exist nor should they be allowed to be used – because the quality and character of a person is all that matters, and as I used to be fond of saying: “I don’t give a rats’ rear-end” what _____this person is or what view/opinion they have.” We are all equal in God’s eyes so these things just plane don’t matter!!!

Have you ever felt this way – I can’t believe anyone would truly say NO? Well, no matter how you feel, at those good times, and those bad, there’s an app for that! We all know that app - it is the Bible. God knew we would go through ages of development, differing advancements, mechanization, and technologies, challenging governments, and battles not only within ourselves but also with the plethora of different types and wonderfully diverse people he created. It has been true since the beginning of time and will always be true until the end. So, God made sure his great philosophers, disciples, profits, and other key followers penned his thoughts and desires in this great book. As Solomon rote in Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV) “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” God knew we would have challenges and struggles so he created this app, as I will call it today, for our well-being and guidance so to give us peace and understanding throughout these challenges.

As it comes to real apps, there are several out there and available. I recommend you find one best suited for you in your daily walk-through life, because there is a solution to everything that we all challenged with, and that solution can be found in this app, the Bible. I personally like and endorse You Version, and I like Bible Gateway and Light Bible as two more great apps.

So, I was feeling angry yesterday after reading some none-sense on social media, so I went to my app and found Psalm 23:1 with a great message: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” This reminded me that I have everything I will ever need in God and thus there is no reason to be angry or frustrated because God provides all my needs.

Once I thought through this, I actually began to feel a bit ashamed of myself because I knew to trust God and had not done so - but then I remembered there’s an app for that, so I looked to David’s words in Psalms 31:1: “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.” Realizing these were David’s own words sent to all of us from God, a smile returned to my face and I was no longer angry nor ashamed.

I have to tell you that I stayed away from Social Media completely until 2019, when I started this business. I had heard nothing but negatives and quite honestly was so busy in my life that I didn’t need to add “another” challenge of things I needed to worry about. However, social media is so prevalent today that you can’t very well provide help and support to your friends, as is the intent of my business, without providing my resources via numerous social media outlets/vehicles. Although I was not investing a lot of money and mostly just my time, starting a new business made me very nervous because quite frankly this business needs a high computer software background of which I am very weak. So, I thought; “there’s an app for that” and I looked to John 1:1, where John shares with us: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Sheepishly I was reminded of the very thing I had remembered before when I was angry and ashamed, that God loves me, he has my back, and he will never leave me – so what was there to be nervous about!

Ironically, when I started my own business, I was, and still am, working a fulltime job as a leader of Compliance at the number one Aviation/Aerospace engine manufacturer in the world. So, my work life is quite busy but with all of our kids raising their own families, and us being empty nesters, I did have some spare time to launch this company of ours. So, I am glad I started this business, but what most people don’t know is that, in my professional work life, I had just made the jump from the number two engine manufacturer in the world to this new job with number one, after 14 years of being the global leader for my tiny little piece of what I do. This gave me a great amount of anxiety to leave a secure job, where I was trusted and respected, to start all over again. Plus, the fact that I would be leaving a great deal of good friends I had met over those years. So, I pondered and yes, you got it – there’s an app for that. I sought out Jeremiah 29:11 where it says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” My anxiety is gone because I trust in the Lord and his word.

Over these past few years, I have had my share of health concerns and scares, as most of us have had. These things happen naturally, or at least when you get to my age they seem to 😊, and on occasion some of these things have scared me. A few years back I had “Spinal Fusion” surgery where they actually chip apart, part of your back bone, to get to the damage they need to repair and then with screws and glue, repair the chipped away backbone with cadaver bone. No doubt about it - I was scared but the alternative was not walking so it seemed like a no-brainer decision. Thank God, there is an app for that. Referring to God, Matthew wrote in his book, chapter 12, verse 20: “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory.” The Apostle John also reminded me in his book, chapter 14, verse 27 that Jesus had told all his followers that: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Oh, how wonderful it would have been to hear Jesus speak and to be with him – thanks to God we all will be able to experience our savior some day!

I certainly have also had my share of guilt in this life. I have said not-so-kind words, treated some very nice people poorly, and turned my back on some friends and loved ones – all actions I am not very proud of. In 1 John, 14:27, John reminds us: “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” I am so glad I have not had a significant amount of guilt in my life because I have generally headed God’s Words and treated people well. But it is always good to know there’s an app for guilt, as well.

It is no secret, because I have referenced it many times over these past several posts, that I am no spring chicken, as my family and doctors like to remind me. But through all the many hours of work and the many family adventures, I honestly feel tired a great deal. Garth Brooks recorded a song that fits my mindset perfectly; “I’m much too young to feel this damn old!” The fact is I’m not all that older and certainly hope to have many years ahead of me. But they say age and feeling tired is just a state of mind, but sometimes my mind is in that state. Thank goodness there’s an app for that. King David reminds us in Psalm 23:3, about God, that: “he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” God refreshes me and everyone – we need not be tired.

Finally, below I will share a good list of Bible versus that help answer many of life’s feelings and emotions. We humans go through the gambit of challenges and for everyone there is the word of God to help strengthen us and sooth our souls. When I started this business, I wanted it to reflect my favorite Bible verse or app, if you will, so much so that I named my business after his verse; 46:10 Ministries. At the time, the world was tired from war, conflict, politics, and strife. This weary world was filled with anxious and troubled people, when God spoke. God reminded us all, as he still does to today, that we should never forget what he told us in Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God!” There is no mistaking God’s love, we just have to seek out his Word – there’s an app for every scenario and situation – and that app is in the Bible.
