OH - Those Wacky Minions

Can you say: BAAAHH NNAAANN NNAAAHH?

This now hilarious comedic phrase was introduced to us, eleven years ago, in the animated comedy; Despicable Me. The first of what would become a three-part movie series, so far, featuring the evil but loveable villain Gru and those adorable cohorts in crime, the minions. They are characterized by their childlike behavior and unique language, which is almost intelligible at times. Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are three of the most familiar minions, who appear as stars in the film Minions, which was the 2015 “prequel” to the original hit Despicable me. They were created by art director Eric Guillon, who worked on several Illumination films, and they have become the official mascots of the Illumination studio.

It is hard not to love these adorable characters and the humorous parts written for them. As well as their humorous actions and slap-stick style comedy, they have certainly become a huge hit with children but have also had quite the charming impact and effect on adults as well. They have become almost celebrities, if an animated character can be a star, rising up in popularity to the celebrated heights of Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and more recent stars Woody, and Buzz Lightyear.

For me I love the humorous statements often attributed to them and the creativity and brilliance of the every day person who posts these refreshingly witty and adorable quotes on social media. So, today I want to celebrate some of the best Minion comics I have collected from various social media sites. Because they are minions, one almost has to laugh when reading these snippets, but don’t lose site of the truly creative minds behind these cute little delights.

As I describe these comical treats, I’m going to steel the old original smart phone slogan used to entice people to purchase or download different software to use. That saying was; “There’s an App for that!” So, here we go:

My wife and I intentionally buck all trends and fashions. If it’s cool, hip, or the “IN” thing, we will do the exact opposite. So, you might say we’re, or at least I’m, not normal. Ironically, there’s a Minion for that:

Sometimes people ask me why I seem so weird and off the wall. Well, there’s a Minion for that:

Sometimes people just go out of their way to be mean to others and even sometimes to me, but I handle it well. Because there’s a Minion for this:

Then there are times when I reciprocate because I don’t handle it well. Thank goodness, I have a Minion for this:

My friends and family know that one of my favorite songs is Garth Brooks’ “I Much Too Young to Feel This Damn Old,” because I say it’s written about me. Well, there’s a Minion for that:

Some people say I’m aging gracefully and other than putting on a few pounds, and losing some hair, I haven’t changed, except for; Well, there’s a Minion for this:

My grandkids and friends have all commented that every time I move around, get up, sit down, or walk quickly, I tend to say oh, ooh, and ah, when I move. Well, there’s a Minion for that:

The other day my granddaughter, age 26, told her close friend she forgot something because she was getting old. I told her age was just a number, why, because there’s a Minion for this:

I have been known to ridicule myself for making dumb mistakes or saying stupid things. But apparently, I’m not the only one, because there’s a Minion for this:

Some days people just frustrate me so much I want to scream, but I’m better than that. 😊 Oh wait, there’s a Minion for that:

Sometimes it’s seems like everywhere you go; people are questioning someone’s motivation or intelligence. I think there’s a Minion for that:

Thank goodness I’m so much better than most of these people. In fact, there’s a Minion for how smart I am:

Finally, all this jocularity has gotten to me. Along with my age, my stupidity, and the stupidity of others, it’s just too much. You guessed it, there’s a Minion for that:

I hope these little ditties brought a smile to your face. I know every time I see them on social media, they make me chuckle and brighten my day. Thank you to all those who have created these humorous anecdotes and brought some joy into this sometimes-challenging world. Just remember, the more you laugh and smile, the better you feel, the better others around you feel, and the better your days go. So next time you’re feeling a bit down, remember, “THERE’S A MINION FOR THAT!
