STOP...and Take Notice

When people get together, the most common thing they talk about is the weather. This is even more prevalent when these people are strangers in random chance meetings. The commonly stated author of such weather is usually “Mother Nature.” While the physics and science of weather are truly an interaction of atmospheric pressures, longitudinal location, and the rotation of the Earth, it’s far easier for all to say; “Look what Mother Nature” has done or is doing!

However, everything that “Mother Nature” does and can do, comes from God’s creation. He created the land, the seas, the mountains, and the streams. Because of these Mother Nature-God creations, and interactions, we often forget about the influence of the clouds, the sunsets, and the sunrises.

These afore-mentioned daily events, are a microcosm of life itself. Depending on your geographic locale, we have dreary cloudy days all the time, some places more than others. But every location on the earth has cloudy days. And every day we have sunrises and sunsets. Some days the clouds block them out for some, but they appear to everyone else, every day, when the clouds are absent.

Just like these occurrences, we always have challenging days, clouds, in life, some more than others. And we always have good days, sunrises and sunsets. It’s just that not everyone gets to see them, or experiencing them, every day. But somewhere in the world, the positives, the good days – sunrises and sunsets, are visible each and every day.

Just as I wrote about a few weeks ago (JAN 9) in my post entitled Choices, each of us has the choice of making these days negative and depressing, or positive and joyous. I don’t think it’s purely a Mother Nature accident that the sun and clouds play a role in our moods, our personality’s, and our general frame of mind. I believe it is God’s way of testing us and rewarding us, and here is why:

Each day starts with a sunrise, whether your surrounded by clouds or not. Have you ever just stopped for a few minutes and marveled at the sunrises? What incredible beauty that God has painted our sky. This is to plant in our minds the beauty of God and His creation. This is to remind us every day, ESPECIALLY ON THOSE CLOUDY DAYS, that He is good, that He loves us, and that he wants us to start each day off with such beauty.

When our days works are completed, God again wants to show His love and show off His creation by giving us beautiful sunsets which adorn His creation with such grandeur.

Yes, there are cloudy days. Sometimes they seem to surround us forever, as if they will never leave. Somedays they are only covering us briefly. And sometimes the clouds themselves are quite majestic and beautiful. But God has planted those magnificent sunrises and sunsets in our minds so that no matter how cloudy and gray it gets, or that life seems to be, there are always breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

So, the next time you experience a sunrise or sunset…STOP…and take time to soak it all in. They only last for a few minutes but they are God’s message to us that He loves us and that the earth and life can be as Beautiful as these incredible views.
